Because there is usually only one librarian in a building,
there is a great need for librarians to network and share information,
lesson plans and promotional strategies with other librarians
with common interests, working at the same level.
The Bucks County High School Librarians’ Group
has been meeting semi-annually since November 2, 2004.
On May 10, 2007, the High School Librarians’ Group
became a subcommittee of
the Bucks County Library Association.
Through self-selected topics,
facilitated sharing, educational protocols, feedback and reflection
with other librarians at the same level,
many in the group have found
High School Librarians’ Group meetings and blog
to be extremely valuable as professional development.
Some of the tips and learning gleaned from these sessions have been: collaboration ideas, student management and discipline
in the library, resource suggestions, lesson ideas, and technology policies and management.
